Modalities Of War

A community supplement for Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness (3rd Edition) that reintroduces the flavour of the old Rites of War. Each Modality Of War adds a bespoke Apex or Auxiliary detachment to your army, along with new Modality-specific Prime Advantages and a set of strict army limitations.

• Category: restored content (Rites of War equivalent)
• Modalities: two per Legion across all eighteen Legions, plus generic Modalities (Pride of the Legion, Destroyer Company, Orbital Assault) usable by any Legion
• Each Modality provides: a new Apex or Auxiliary detachment, positive effects including new Prime Advantages, and army limitations
• Play style: varies by Modality (siege, drop assault, terror, mechanised, elite, recon, etc.)
• Points range: any

Compatibility

• Replaces: rites of war
• Requires: nothing
• Do not use alongside another set that replaces rites of war. A Modality Of War may not be used as an allied detachment and generally cannot include an allied detachment unless the specific Modality states otherwise. Each Modality's limitations restrict which detachments, units and characters the army may take.
